GANGADEESWARAR - PANKAJAAKSHI Amman

ஸ்ரீ Devan (தேவன் - R Mahadevan)) was a famous Tamil writer, used to write in Ananda Vikatan. Born in Sep 1913, he passed away in May 1957. Some of his more popular novels are துப்பறியும் சாம்பு, கோமதியின் காதலன், லக்ஷ்மியின் கடாக்ஷம் etc. The book Lakshmi Kadaksham was published in 1951-1952. PURASAIWAKKAM புரசைவாக்கம் is a busy and popular locality in Chennai, surrounded by Poonamalee High road, Veperi, Perambur, Kilpauk among others. We were living in Kilpauk during 2002 - 2008 and we used to walk around Purasaiwakkam almost every day. Sri Gangadiswarar Koil is located in a street named after this Shiva, in Purasaiwakkam; opposite the cloth merchants Madhar Sha. The Amman in the temple is Sri PANKAJAAKSHI ஸ்ரீ பங்கஜாக்ஷி அம்மன். Why I am writing about these? Is there any connection? YES, read on …. Devan writes in this book (Lakshmi Kadaksham) p-32 --> "அதில்லை, பங்கஜாக்ஷியை தர்சனம் செய்ய கொடுத்து இருக்க வேண்டும். பார்த்து விட்டால், கேட்டதை கொடுப்பாள். வாங்கிக்கொண்டு

Sri Madhava Perumal Koil

SRI MADHAVA PERUMAL KOIL On 2 nd June 2018 we left house at 0700 AM and went to Sri Mundaka Kanni Amman Koil in Mylapore. A powerful Amman and very popular koil also. After worshipping the Amman, we walked further to Sri Madhava Perumal Koil. This koil is also very ancient. The Thaayaar (Amman) name is AMIRTHAVALLI Thaayaar. She was born to BRIGU Rishi who was doing Tapas at Mylapore for a daughter. Lakshmi Devi was born to the couple as suggested by MahaVishnu . When she attained the suitable age, Vishnu came as Madhavan and married her. Thus goes the legend of this temple. A beautiful koil. Today (2nd June) is the birthday of our dear ARJUN. We prayed for his wellbeing. From there we walked to nearby Arundale Street where the famous RAYAR MESS is located. Media was acclaiming that this very ancient eatery is crowded on weekends, but I assumed it was just a hype. When we reached there by 7-45, Oh My God, it was indeed crowded ! A large crowd waiting to be called in for
