OBITUARY
KAMAKSHI was born at Kanchipuram on 10-09-1941 as the third child to Smt Annapoorani Ammal and Sri GN Yegnaswamy Iyer.
The family had 2 sons and 4 sisters and everyone of them had their schooling at Kanchipuram. Their father GNY was a teacher in Pachaiyappa's School at Kanchipuram.
After her schooling, she went to Bombay (now Mumbai) to live with her elder brother and she was employed there for a while.
She married Sri Sundararajan at Kanchipuram on 07-11-1965 and led a happy married life. They lived at Avadi, Chennai. They were blessed with 3 children - Poornima, Krishnaraj, and Nirupama. Poornima was married at Avadi. By1998 they shifted to Thane, Mumbai where their son was employed. Nirupama was married at Mumbai and Krishnaraj was married at Pune.
On 18-05-2001, Sri Sundararajan passed away at Thane. Kamakshi and Krishnaraj continued living at Thane. By 2014 they shifted to Bangalore, Marathahalli area.
Kamakshi's health started deteriorating slowly and after a prolonged illness, she breathed her last on 21 APRIL 2016 at Manipal Hospital, Bangalore where she was undergoing treatment regularly.
She leaves behind her son Krishnaraj, daughter-in-law Gayathri, daughters Poornima and Nirupama and sons-in-law Sri Jayashankar and Sri Santosh and her five grandchildren, and brothers and sisters.
Her last rites were done on 22 April 2016. Krishnaraj and Ashok went to Srirangapattinam to immerse the ashes in river Kaveri.
We two went to Bangalore on 27th April to participate in the rituals to be done by Krishnaraj. After a day's stay at Ashok's house, we proceeded to Krishnaraj house on 28th. Poornima, Nirupama, her two kids, Lalita, Kumar were already there.
Krishna started the rituals from the 9th day i.e. from 29th. He and Kumar went to Malleswaram where the kariyams were to be done.

30th April was the 10th day rites. All of us went to Malleswaram in three cabs. The kariyams were completed by 10 AM. Jayasankar (Poornima), Santosh (Nirupama), Mullick (Mumbai), and Mohan came. We returned home and took bath. Meals from caterer.
1st May was the 11th day kariyam. Only Krishna went.
2nd May was the 12th day. Krishna and Gayathri went to Malleswaram for the Sapindikaranam. They returned by 10:30 AM. Meanwhile, the Sothakumbham samaiyal was prepared by Lalita, Poornima, and Vijaya. One Brahmin came, performed the Sothakumbham Sraththam. He had meals here and then left. All of us ate later.
3rd May, TUE: Subasyam or Subasweekaram. Four vathyars came by 8 AM and started. Ashok, Neeraja, Anand and family, Mullick, Krishna's cousin Mr Pattabhi, his wife came. Subasyam was over by 11 AM. We had meals from the caterer. Then we left with Ashok, Neeraja. We took Mullick also to BTM.
Lalita, Kumar, Anand and family, Poornima, Nirupama left by the evening.
Thus the kariyams of Kamakshi were over satisfactorily.
